Overview
Be a part of the Summer Volunteer Program in Nepal with Volunteering Solutions and spend 3 amazing weeks at this Himalayan nation. You will embark on your volunteering journey in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal where you would experience the joy of sharing the love by serving at the orphanage, teaching English to the children or taking care of the mentally disabled kids.

Program Requirements
Program Requirements
Volunteers must be 17 years or older at the time of joining the project. You need to have an open mind and a flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. The volunteer should bring energy and enthusiasm to make a difference. Participants must be fit and healthy at the time of joining the program. Participants should have no criminal convictions and should provide a clean criminal background check report. A parental consent form shall be required for Under 18 participants joining the program.

Day 1 (Sat): Arrival in Kathmandu You will be picked up from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transferred to your accommodation. You can take some rest on the day of arrival. You can also venture out to the nearby local area and get familiar with it.

Day 2 (Sunday) – Orientation
Today your coordinators will be discussing with you your program itinerary for the days to come and give you the essential information. (Meals – Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Day 3 (Mon) to Day 7 (Fri) – Volunteering in Kathmandu
Volunteer work begins. During this time you will be working in either Orphanage, Teaching Project or with mentally – physically disabled children. You can render invaluable help by doing volunteer work at an orphanage in Nepal by giving them love and affection, teaching them basic conversational English, helping them in their school subjects, guiding them about personal hygiene and sanitation, taking them out on small excursions and engaging them in extracurricular activities. It would be an unforgettable and soul enriching experience for you which may compel you to return.

Day 8 (Sat) – Kathmandu City Tour
Today we will take you for City tour of Kathmandu. You will find many Buddhist and Hindu temples and many historic and heritage sites in the city. You can also see beautiful pagodas, shrines, and monasteries. In this tour, we will cover Durbar Square, Temple of Kumari (Living Goddess) and Pashupatinath Temple.

Day 9 (Sun) – Explore Kathmandu
This day is for leisure activities or optional tours or for shopping. You can visit other places of tourist interest or visit Thamel area for spending a good time in a pub or restaurant and for shopping.

Day 10 (Mon) to Day 14 (Fri) – Volunteer work in Kathmandu
You will continue volunteering work and gain rich experience out of it.

Day 15 (Sat) – Trip to Bhaktapur and Nagarkot
At around 10 am, we will take volunteers to Bhaktapur, one of the ancient Kingdoms in Nepal. In Bhaktapur, You can see amazing pagodas and other monuments. After sightseeing in Bhaktapur, you can have lunch at a local restaurant (at own cost). Later we will proceed to Nagarkot. Nagarkot is located near Kathmandu from where one can get amazing views of the Himalayas. Enjoy the sunset and then return back to Kathmandu.

Day 16 (Sun) – Visit Patan and Swayabhunath Temple
After breakfast, we will take you for a tour of Patan and Swayabhunath Temple. Patan is one of the ancient Kingdoms in Nepal. As you reach Patan, you would be taken aback by the contrast to Kathmandu. See beautiful temples and palaces in Patan. After lunch in Patan in a local restaurant (at own cost), we will proceed to Swayabhunath Temple. Later we will take you back to your accommodation.

Day 17 (Mon) – Refreshing tour of Chitwan and Pokhara
Volunteers will leave for Chitwan by air-conditioned bus or van or car. Upon arrival at the Chitwan National Park, you would be transferred to the Lodge or accommodation booked for you. You can discuss with local staff for jungle activities and the facilities around.

Day 18 (Tue) – Chitwan
On this day, enjoy a safari in Chitwan National Park and other activities like nature walk, bird watching, etc. You can also enjoy various activities in and around your accommodation.

Day 19 (Wed) – Chitwan-Pokhara
After breakfast at the hotel, volunteers will travel to Pokhara by air-conditioned bus or van or car. Upon arrival in Pokhara, check in at the booked accommodation. Relax for some time and then go for the evening boat ride in Phewa Lake. Later you can roam around and enjoy the lively ambiance around. You can have lunch in a local restaurant (at own cost). For dinner, you can go for any of the good restaurants (there are many) in Pokhara and try various local food as well.

Day 20 (Thu) – Sightseeing in Pokhara
Early morning, visit famous Sarangkot for amazing sunrise and get magnificent views of the Himalayas. Later return back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will take you for the city tour of Pokhara. In this tour, you will visit places of tourist attractions like Mahendra Cave, Seti River Gorge, Devi’s Fall, Peace Pagoda, and Bindhyabasini Temple. One can also visit the International Mountain Museum. Adventure lovers can opt for add on an activity of paragliding.

Day 21 (Fri) – Pokhara-Kathmandu
In the morning, volunteers will return to Kathmandu by bus or van or car. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check in at the accommodation booked for you.

Day 22 (Sat) – Departure from Kathmandu
It’s time to say bye to Nepal. Check out from the accommodation and proceed to airport for your onward / return flight.

Living
It is our duty to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, so the moment you land in Nepal we take care of you. From arranging airport transfers to providing you a comfortable accommodation, clubbed with meals of your choice plus assisting with weekend tours, we try to serve you the best.
Airport Transfer
Volunteers are picked up from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu by a member of the local coordinating staff. Those volunteers who will be already in Nepal will be met by the staff at a designated meeting point decided beforehand.
Accommodation
Accommodation is provided on a shared basis at a homestay accommodation in Kathmandu. The accommodation is managed by the local program coordinator.In case there is no availability at the volunteer accommodation, then volunteers are also provided accommodation at a guest house as well. Depending on the availability you would be assigned your accommodation. Both the home stay and guest house accommodation are neat and provide a comfortable stay during your volunteering period in Nepal. All accommodations have running water, electricity and all basic amenities available. The accommodations have hot water showers for winters and wifi internet is available. Private rooms are available at guest house at extra charges as well.
Orientation
An orientation and briefing will be provided by your local program coordinator. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc. Start your volunteering experience by taking the 1 week Language Culture Orientation week in Kathmandu.
Meals
Two Nepalese meals (Breakfast and Dinner) will be provided to all volunteers depending on your work schedule.Breakfast typically consists of Bread, Butter, Jam, Sandwich, Tea etc.Typical meals provided include Dal (Lentils), Rice,Vegetables,Chicken and meat etc.The staple meal for most Nepalese people is dal bhat, which consists of lentil soup (dal), rice (bhat) and vegetables in curry (tarkari).If you have any special dietary requirements, you can let us know in advance and we can try our best to accommodate that.
During your Free Time
On the weekends volunteers usually head out to Chitwan National Park to do a Safari trip or to the beautiful town of Pokhara. On the weekdays, evenings are free and volunteers usually hang out at Thamel which is a famous backpacking touristy area with numerous cafes and restaurants or explore some of the most famous attractions of Kathmandu.
